Mathew – portrays Christ as The promised King

Mark – portrays Christ as The Servant of God

Luke – portrays Christ as The Perfect Man

John – portrays Christ as The Son of God

Mathew – writes like a teacher

Mark – writes like a preacher

Luke – writes like a historian

John – writes like a theologian

.

Matthew’s emphasis was on Jesus’ sermons

Mark’s emphasis was on Jesus’ miracles

Luke’s emphasis was on Jesus’ parables

John’s emphasis was on Jesus’ doctrines

.

Matthew wrote to the Jews

Mark wrote to the Romans

Luke wrote to the Greeks

John wrote to the entire world

.

Matthew’s theme is - Jesus is the Messiah predicted by OT prophesy

Mark’s theme is - Jesus backed up His words with action

Luke’s theme is - the compassion & humanity of Jesus

John’s theme is - the deity of Jesus

Luke - portrays Christ as The Perfect Man

Luke - writes like a historian

Luke - emphasis was on Jesus’ parables

Luke - wrote to gentiles in general and the Greeks in particular

Luke theme is - the compassion & humanity of Jesus

40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me."  

41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

1.    She accused The Lord        

.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.  

~ Romans 8:28

2.    She got distracted        

.

41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;  

~ Luke 10:41

.

and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. 34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

3.    She accused & condemned her sister

.

My sheep hear my voice, & I know them & they follow me

~ John 10:27

.

A listening heart:

1. You are worried or distracted by many things.

2. You’re frustrated because you feel like you are doing all the work.

3. You feel like Jesus doesn’t care about your situation.

4. You’re still in the kitchen while others are worshipping God.
