ALCFNow - The true value of your gifts

They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

~ Matthew 2:11 

The wise men from the east gave Jesus 3 gifts:

· Gold

· Frankincense

· Myrrh

Ask yourself this question: If these non-believers came and give something of great value to our Lord Jesus, what should we be willing to give Him?

3 tangible things we can give to the Lord:

· Time

· Talent

· Treasure

Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.

43 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”

~ Mark 12:41-44

There are 2 very important lessons we can learn about giving from this poor woman:

1. Our giving ought not be measured in terms of some overall amount.

2. Our giving should be generous and sacrificial
